Somewhere between 10:00 and 10:20pm on Saturday, August 16, my brother's
car was broken into on the passenger side door while parked directly
outside the front door of the Ropewalk Lane Blockbuster Video in St.
John’s.
A mountain equipment co-op blue handbag

containing a month’s worth of rather expensive medication, $400 worth of
eyeglasses and contacts, numerous id’s including SIN and birth
certificate, and other personal belongings were taken, as well as a
large amount of cash, which was meant to pay September’s tuition at MUN
but it now gone. As well, a small brown leather ladies purse/backpack
containing a cell phone, personal checks, $150 worth of cosmetics, and
house keys was also stolen.
A search of the area Saturday night and all Sunday showed no sign of the
belongings. We figured the thief/thieves may have taken the money and
dumped the bag somewhere, but we cannot find it if this is the case. We
have searched the Mundy Pond area and the soccer field on Stamp’s Lane,
as well as dumpsters and trash cans in the area, with no luck. At this
point we would be grateful to find the Ids, eyewear, and medications, as
these are absolutely vital at this time.
We are willing to offer a reward to anyone who finds the bag, purse, or
hopefully both. We’re not sure if the thieves were on foot or had a car
– if the later, it could be anywhere in the city. The police have little
evidence to go on, and the weight of the theft is taking its toll.
If you have witnessed any strange activity in the area at the specified
time we would greatly appreciate you getting in contact with us by
calling 579-8566 or emailing me at ***@nf.sympatico.ca . If you
come upon the bag or purse PLEASE call us and we’ll give you the reward,
no questions asked.
We are trying to get in contact with VOCM and the news, but again, thus
far there is no luck. I figured the best way to get in touch with a lot
of people was to try the newsgroups. If you could ask the people you
know if they have any information, you would have my family’s deepest
gratitude.
Thank you,
- Kelley Bromley.
